Funding the full costs — including the overhead — for foundation and government funded programs is a longstanding challenge (and headache!) for nonprofits. Finally, this issue is being understood as more than simply an accounting skills problem: it’s a systemic problem affecting nonprofit service quality, sustainability, nonprofit compensation, and services to communities. And with the OMB (Office of Management and BudgetUniform Guidance, there’s a new tool to use as well.

This series of three finance webinars looks at the overall issue of overhead and various nonprofit strategies for recovering overhead costs. (Register for any or all of them here.)

Real Costs – Realistic Strategies: Understanding, Communicating, and Funding the Full Cost of Your Services (Thursday, May 11th) - register for this webinar and we'll send you the recording and slides. This first session is the least technical, and applicable to both government and foundation funders.

Recovering Overhead Costs in Government Contracts: New Opportunities (Thursday, June 1st at 11am-1pm PT)This second session offers five ways to allocate indirect costs in contracts with government — whether federal, state, county, or local.

Negotiating a Federal Indirect Cost Rate: Step by Step Guide to Preparing Your Indirect Cost Rate Proposal (Thursday, June 15th at 11am-1pm PT) - The third session is the most technical: how to negotiate a federal indirect cost rate.

Presenter Kay Sohl is a star — she is deeply immersed in the accounting and policy aspects of overhead recovery, and has worked with hundreds of nonprofits and government agencies on the subject. And she understands the real-life aspects of it all; she doesn’t simply repeat the academic principles or rules.

This webinar series is not eligible for CPE credits.
